PDF Butler – Simple Column Repeater #
The Simple Column Repeater allows data to repeat column by column in a table instead of the standard row-by-row repetition.
This is useful when you want to dynamically add columns for related records, such as Opportunities linked to an Account.

Important Notes #
SIMPLE COLUMN REPEATERsupports column repetition only.- Row repetition cannot be combined within the same table.

Advanced Option – Complex Column Repeater #
PDF Butler also provides a Complex Column Repeater, which supports repeating both columns and rows within the same table.

1. Prepare the Word Template #
- Open your Microsoft Word document.
- Create a table structure for the data.
- Insert the merge fields in the order you want the data to appear.
Example:
If you want each related Opportunity to generate a new column, place the merge fields in the column that should repeat.
In this scenario, the second column will be repeated for every Opportunity linked to the Account.

- Save the document.
2. Upload the Template #
- Open your Doc Config in Salesforce.
- Upload the Word document to the Doc Config Documents section.
3. Configure the Simple Column Repeater #
Ensure the required Data Source is already linked to the Doc Config.
- Click Add Config Type.
- Configure the following values:
Config Type Settings #
- Type =
SIMPLE COLUMN REPEATER - Merge Field = The first merge field located in the column that should repeat
- It is recommended that this merge field is placed in the first row of the repeating column.
- Column Width Type = Select how the repeated columns should behave:
- Same Width → All generated columns keep the same width.
- Dynamic Width → The original column width is divided among generated columns.

Choose the option that best fits your document layout.
4. Add Child Config Types #
- Create Child Config Types under the
SIMPLE COLUMN REPEATER. - Add one child configuration for each merge field that should appear in the repeated column.
- This can include the same merge field used when configuring the repeater.
5. Save and Generate the Document #
- Click Save to Server.
- Generate the document from your Salesforce record.
- Verify that:
- Data repeats column by column
- Additional columns are generated dynamically
- Table formatting remains correct
